VECCS Produces Successful, In-Person Spring Symposium in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
Amid the ongoing global CoVID 19 Pandemic, the Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society hosted their first in-person symposium in over a year.

San Antonio, TX, Release: April 20, 2021

After having rescheduled Spring Symposium 2020 twice due to the CoVID 19 pandemic, VECCS produced an education focused event in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Nearly 100 VECCS members gathered at a safe distance to devour 4 days of progressive educational sessions focused on Fluid Therapy, Ultrasound, Communication and Wellbeing in the ER and ICU sponsored by Caniplas. Also offered was a 4 hour Wet Lab: Veterinary Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), sponsored by FUJIFILM Sonosite and lead by the esteemed Dr. Soren Boysen.

With the approval of the Board of Directors the VECCS Staff curated this innovative Spring Symposium 2021, April 15-18 at the Ft. Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa, while keeping safety top-of-mind. Following CDC and local guidelines, taking the necessary precautions and communicating them to attendees and guests, the event went off without resulting in any known health concerns.

VECCS CEO, Dr. Chris Gray noted his thoughts on the event:

''It was fantastic to be back at an in-person meeting. All the attendees were very respectful of each other observing social distancing and mask wearing protocols and were excited to meet in-person, whilst feeling as safe as possible. We are looking forward to working with the evolving guidelines in Nashville to hold our next in person event at IVECCS in September.''

VECCS is anticipating IVECCS 2021 in Nashville, TN, September 11-15 at the Gaylord Opryland. Not only are they eager for the chance to meet face-to-face again, but also to implement the insights, safety precautions and technological applications executed during the production of Spring Symposium 2021.

The purpose of the Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society (VECCS) is to promote the advancement of knowledge and high standards of practice in veterinary emergency medicine and critical patient care.
