Joris Robben
Dr. Joris Robben graduated from Utrecht University in 1988 and subsequently performed a Supplementary Doctoral Examination at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine (1990-1994) at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Utrecht. Since 1994 he leads the ICU at this department, and since 2011 also the Emergency Services.
He finished his PhD on canine insulinomas in 2004. In 2008 Joris joined for one year the staff of the ICU of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, UC Davis. Currently, he is Associate Professor in Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine at Utrecht University.
Since 1997, Joris is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM-CA). From 2008 till 2011 he was President of the European Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. In 2014, Joris became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ECVECC). He was President of this College from 2018 till 2021. His interests are veterinary clinical toxicology and ICU design.
