Call for proposals 2027

CALL FOR PRESENTERS
Krakow 2027
European Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Congress (EVECC)
The European Society of Emergency and Critical Care (EVECCS) and College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ECVECC) are inviting presenter proposals for our: annual European Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Congress, that will take place in the stunning city of Krakow, Poland, from the 3-5 June 2027.
The program will explore a wide range of emergency and critical care clinical issues, covered with different formats and at a variety of levels, allowing us to engage with all participants, from students to specialist clinicians and nurses. The program will also include non-clinical topics, such as non-technical and leadership skills, management, and team well-being.
Veterinarians and veterinary nurses who are interested in becoming EVECC presenters are invited to submit proposals for the following categories and target audiences:
Main stream - These sessions are targeted at the broad majority of ECC vets ranging from those who are newly emerging into ECC work, or those wanting an update or refresher on topics they may feel out of touch with, right through to experienced ECC vets. The talks will have a strong clinical focus with clear applicability to cases seen in the clinic, only small amounts of physiology/pathophysiology or literature should be present.
Advanced stream - These sessions are aimed at experienced ECC vets or new residents who want to have a greater understanding of the underlying physiology/pathophysiology, evidence surrounding a topic, or procedures for which advanced or specialist equipment may be needed. Although there will still be an explanation of how to apply such concepts to patients in the clinic, these talks are expected to have more discussion of aspects which may not be directly applicable to patient management. Talks which have no direct clinical application (such as literature reviews or reviews of physiology) should be clearly stated as such within the title. For advanced talks, a few short slides should ideally be used at the start of the lecture to ensure the audience has the same base foundation knowledge for the rest of the talk to then build upon. This does not have to be extensive but will allow delegates who might otherwise feel lost to be able to take something useful from the talk.
Resident stream - These talks are aimed at residents of all levels and will cover aspects which may not always have direct clinical relevance. A strong focus on the literature, or on the underlying physiology or pathophysiology should is expected. Lectures address a range of topics that are relevant for board exam preparation and are covered at an advanced level.
Nurse and Technician stream - These sessions are targeted at the broad majority of ECC vets but may also include general practitioners who have an ECC interest, vets who are newly emerging into ECC work, or those wanting an update or refresher on topics they may feel out of touch with. The talks will have a strong clinical focus with clear applicability to cases seen in the clinic, only small amounts of physiology/pathophysiology or literature will be present.
Advanced Nurse and Technician stream - These talks are aimed at highly experienced nurses or those preparing for specialty examinations, and will have a stronger focus on advanced topics, physiology and pathophysiology and therefore sometimes reduced immediate clinical applicability.
Non-clinical stream - These talks are aimed at veterinarians and nurses with different experience levels interested in non-technical and leadership skills.
Proposals for innovative sessions such as debates, round tables, joint multi-disciplinary lectures and interactive lecturesare encouraged in all streams.
General guidelines for all proposal:
Proposals are automatically rejected without further scrutiny if they:
- Are on topics which have been covered during EVECCS congress in the same stream within the preceding 3-year period
- Are submitted by individuals without appropriate postgraduate qualifications or experience for the topic proposed
- Are not relevant to the emergency and critical care field
- Are too preliminary in nature or are deemed to be of low scientific quality
- Exceed 350 words in length (excluding title and author details)
- Are not written in scientific American English grammar
- Contain tables, graphs or figures
- Are not submitted on-line via the module
- Are received after the closing date
We encourage submission of multiple proposals as we can usually accept between 3-5 lectures per speaker. In order to streamline the process for proposals, the decision has been made to only accept proposals that are submitted via the Lecture Proposal Module.
