Deborah Silverstein

Deborah Silverstein obtained a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia's School of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a small animal rotating internship at the same institution. She then spent 3 years at the University of California, Davis as a resident in small animal Emergency and Critical Care. She obtained Diplomate status before moving to Philadelphia to join the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently a Professor of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Clinical Sciences and Advanced Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She enjoys clinical research on shock, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, and microcirculatory perfusion. Dr. Silverstein has co-edited 2 textbooks, over 60 manuscripts, and more than 50 book chapters. She greatly enjoys lecturing and teaching colleagues, residents, interns, students, and nurses about critical care medicine in small animals.
