Brogan Atkinson

Originally from South Africa, Brogan earned her undergraduate veterinary degree from the University of Pretoria in 2013. After gaining initial experience in general practice and then spending a couple of years in referral practice, she returned to academia to pursue advanced training. In 2021, Brogan completed a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Pretoria, earning her MMedVet and achieving ECVIM Diplomate status in 2022. Her passion for complex case management led her to the United Kingdom, where she undertook a second residency in Cardiology at the Royal Veterinary College in London. By 2025, she successfully completed her MVetMed and became an ACVIM Diplomate in Cardiology. She is currently a cardiothoracic perfusion fellow at the Queen Mother Hospital for Small Animals at the RVC, where she continues to integrate her expertise in medicine and cardiology to enhance patient outcomes. Her ongoing clinical and research interests include optimizing congestive heart failure management, identifying peri-operative predictors of surgical mitral valve repair outcomes as well as creating a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to intra- and post-operative techniques and case management to enhance patient care.
