Lindsey Ashburner

Lindsey is an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Nurse at the Edinburgh University Hospital for Small Animals.

She first qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2012 and started her career at a mixed practice. It was here that she found her passion for ECC nursing and achieved the Vets Now certificate in emergency and critical care. In 2015 she started working at the Edinburgh University as a dedicated ECC nurse in the busy ICU department.

A big aspect of her job working for the university is teaching veterinary students. To improve her teaching abilities she completed The Edinburgh Teaching Award – Associate Fellow and uses her teaching skills to teach veterinary students, veterinary interns, residents, and fellow veterinary nurses.

In 2017 Lindsey was awarded a scholarship from Edinburgh University which enabled her to complete the Vet Tech Specialist(ECC) qualification which she obtained in 2019. Included in the scholarship was the opportunity to undertake several externships to gain experience of other ERs/ICUs in both the USA and UK and attend ECC specific CE events including the European and International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Congresses.

In Lindsey’s spare time she enjoys running and hill walking with her husband and very energetic puppy Duma.
