Sara Jackson

After completing a PhD researching the behavioural strategies used by dogs when air scenting for explosive and drugs detection Sara followed her dream and graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Cambridge in 2010.  After 6 years in general practice, she entered the world of emergency and critical care and has since developed a deep passion for the discipline.

Sara joined Vets Now in 2016 and has worked in multiple clinics, hospitals and as a clinical lead. In 2020 she gained her RCVS Certificate in emergency and critical care becoming registered as an Advanced Practitioner in the field.

Currently an area clinical manager Sara focusses on clinical and professional standards, coaching and mentoring in 9 clinics in Scotland and northern England.  As an advocate for Just Culture and civility saves lives Sara proactively encourages her teams to be compassionate with themselves and others when mistakes happen, allowing all to learn without fear of retribution.  Equally she ensures teams celebrate themselves when shifts go well.

Outside of work it’s all about the dogs, of which Sara has too many…. and her husband!
